An AI Perception assessment helps you understand whether AI recognises your business, how it describes you and what you can improve. This series takes you through the full process, with one workbook to hold your evidence, scores and actions.
AI Perception is whether AI systems recognise your brand and how they understand, describe and recommend it.
What you will finish with
| Scorecard | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Presence and Interpretation | How AI includes and describes your business in relevant customer decisions. |
| Information readiness | How well your website and wider public information support an accurate understanding. |
| Management maturity | How consistently you assess, investigate, improve and review your AI Perception. |
You will also choose three priority actions, with owners and a date to review progress. Keep the three scorecards separate: a business can receive accurate answers today while having little process for maintaining that position.
Choose a useful scope
Start with one brand and its important offerings, customer groups and locations. Write down the decisions you want to examine: discovering an experience, comparing providers, checking suitability or making a booking. Include the AI systems your customers use.
Gather your current business information, important website pages and key external profiles. Someone from marketing can lead the assessment, with a website provider helping with the technical checks. Work through it over several sessions if needed.
How to score
For readiness and management questions, start at 3: is the requirement in place across the important scope, with a repeatable way to keep it working?
| Score | What earns it |
|---|---|
| 1 — Unmanaged | The required capability has been checked and is absent or ineffective. |
| 2 — Reactive | Some work exists, but material gaps or inconsistent practices remain. |
| 3 — Established | The requirement is implemented and repeatable across the important scope. |
| 4 — Managed | An owner reviews it regularly or when things change and follows up problems. |
| 5 — Adaptive | Completed review cycles show how learning improves the approach and how changes are checked. |
Choose the lower score when a material part of the higher level is missing. Use U for something you have not assessed, and N/A for something that does not apply. Record evidence and a reason for each choice. A plan to do something does not count as completed work.
The workbook shows examples beside every group of questions. It averages numeric question scores within each component, excludes N/A and marks incomplete results provisional. Questions scored 1 or 2 remain visible even if the component average is higher. Presence and Interpretation have their own outcome scales.
