AEO platform comparison

The 10 best AEO platforms in 2026, ranked by what you actually need them for

Rosh Jay · Founder of Onsomble

Two years ago, if you wanted to know how your brand showed up in search, you opened a rank tracker. Now a growing share of buying questions never touch a results page. Someone asks ChatGPT which accounting software to use, or asks Gemini whether a bank is any good for a first home loan, and the answer they get is the whole shortlist. The tools that measure those answers are new, uneven, and priced in ways that are hard to compare. This article is my attempt to sort them out.

Full disclosure, I founded Onsomble. Our aim when building Onsomble was not to be everything to everyone. My team and I have extensive experience working with large enterprise datasets over decades. We have focused on building Onsomble as a serious analytics tool for mature agencies that are looking to really make a difference for their clients and how AI perceives their brand.

Prices were checked on 14 October 2026. They will drift. Check the vendor's page before you buy.

The assessment

How I ranked them

I looked at the same ten things for every platform: which AI engines it covers, whether you can research a topic without a brand, how it measures visibility and competitors, how deeply it reads the narrative in an answer, whether you can get to the original answers and cited sources, how far its geography goes, what it does to turn findings into work, how it handles clients and reporting, what you can do through its MCP connector, and how its pricing works.

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is the standard that lets an assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude call a platform's tools directly, so you can set up research, run it and read the evidence without leaving the chat. Most of these platforms now have a connector. What differs is how much the connector can do and which plan you need to get it.

I have not scored anything out of ten. Scores imply a precision this category does not have yet. Each job below has a ranked top three and a sentence or two on who else is worth a look.

Rankings by job

Research topics beyond your brand

Most of these tools start from a website. You enter your domain, they find your competitors, and the questions are built around a purchase. That is fine for a product team. It is useless for a PR team trying to understand how AI assistants frame an industry issue, a policy debate or a public figure before anyone has decided who the client is.

Rank 01

Onsomble

This is the job Onsomble was built for, and no other platform in the market does it. Every other tool starts from a website and builds the research around a brand you own. Onsomble starts from the question. A Topic has a scope, a jurisdiction, a time window and a list of entities to track, which can be organisations, people, groups, brands or products, with or without a focal one. You can study how AI assistants frame a contested policy, an industry issue or a public figure, see every stakeholder side by side, and read the claims and sources behind each portrayal, before anyone has decided who the client is. The same analytics engine that reads brand claims reads issue claims, so a PR team gets the stance, the driver and the cited passage for every statement AI makes about every stakeholder. For PR, public affairs and market research, that is the difference between a monitoring tool and a research instrument.

Rank 02

Profound

Profound sells a PR solution. You can write custom prompts about industry themes rather than products, and its sentiment product groups the claims it extracts into themes you can follow over time. Two things hold it to second. Its analytics setup requires at least one enabled brand or product asset per category, so the study is always anchored to something you own. And the trial runs recommended prompts only, so you cannot see how the PR tooling handles your issue before you sign an Enterprise contract.

Rank 03

Evertune

Evertune comes at research from the consumer-insight side. Custom prompts cover thought leadership and emerging topics, and its Word Association and Consumer Preferences reports tell you what language and attributes AI attaches to brands in a category. Onboarding still starts with a brand name and URL, so treat it as category research around a brand rather than brand-free research.

Also worth a look: Semrush's Prompt Research starts from a topic phrase without a brand, which makes it a good discovery tool, though not a study tool.

See what AI says and where it comes from

A sentiment score of 72 per cent positive tells you almost nothing. The useful question is which specific statements the assistant makes, about whom, and which pages it leans on to make them.

Rank 01

Onsomble

Onsomble has the most advanced analytics engine available in this market, and this category is where that shows. The engine was built on decades of enterprise big data experience and combines generative and predictive models to analyse every individual claim an AI assistant makes, not the answer as a whole and not a sentiment score. For every claim you get the exact quote, the entity it is about, the stance taken, the driver behind it, the model and location it came from, and the citation attributed to that claim with the supporting passage from the cited page. Claims roll up into narratives (features, trust signals, decision criteria and concerns) so you can see the pattern across thousands of answers, and you can drill back down to the sentence when you need to defend a finding to a board or a client. The original answer is one click away, and claim evidence pins into a recommendation so the reasoning travels with the work. Other tools give you themes with source URLs attached. Onsomble gives you the sentence, the stance, the source and the passage, for every claim, every time.

Rank 02

Profound

Profound's Sentiment product extracts claims from answers, groups them into themes and attributes, shows the answer text, and ties sentiment to specific citations, with a click-through from a citation to the passage behind a claim. It is built to be read at theme level, with the individual claim as a drill-down rather than the starting point. It is Enterprise-only and the seven-day trial runs recommended prompts, so you cannot check any of this on your own questions before buying. Ask for a working session on your prompts before you sign.

Rank 03

Peec AI

Peec's Brand Perception view extracts the attributes AI associates with a brand and clusters recurring objections, each with the source pages behind them. Its Chats view shows the answer, the brand mentions, the search queries the assistant ran, and distinguishes sources it retrieved from sources it actually cited inline. That last distinction is more useful than it sounds when you are working out why a page shows up.

Also worth a look: AthenaHQ scores excerpt-level attribute observations from negative to positive, and Conductor segments sentiment into price, quality, ethics and experience.

Compare AI answers across countries and cities

AI answers change with location more than most people expect, and a national average can hide the fact that your brand is recommended in one city and absent in another.

Rank 01

Onsomble

Onsomble has the deepest location analysis in the market, and it is not close. 7,313 selectable cities across 225 countries and territories, 6,544 of them outside the United States, every one of them included on every paid plan, and every one of them analysed with the same claim-level engine. Regional analysis puts visibility, share of voice, sentiment and competitors for every location on one map and one ranked list, so you compare cities against each other rather than running them one at a time. From any city you drill into the answers, the claims and the sources that make that city different. You do not just learn that Auckland and Wellington differ. You can read the sentence that makes them differ, and see which model said it and which page it came from. For a multi-location brand, a franchise network, a tourism board or an agency with clients in several markets, location-based inference is the whole job, and no other platform gives you this level of granularity. The one thing to plan for is capacity: one execution covers one question in one AI experience in one region, so a wide regional study uses allowance quickly.

Rank 02

Semrush

Semrush's Brand Performance report has the longest location list here, more than 68,000 countries, states, regions and cities. The catch is that each report is tied to one location and language, every additional location is a separate report at $99 a month, and the reports do not compare locations against each other or let you drill into the answers for one city. A long list, one location at a time.

Rank 03

AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ supports city, state and province targeting across 185 markets, with CSV import of locations and bulk prompt assignment. Starter is single-region and single-language; multi-country operation is an Enterprise feature.

Also worth a look: Conductor supports city and state configuration for most engines, with Claude, Google AI Mode and Copilot excepted. Profound supports country, state and city on non-agency Enterprise plans, within contracted region limits.

Work from ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini

If your team already lives in an assistant, the question is not whether a platform has an MCP connector. It is how much of the job the connector can do, and which plan you need to get it.

Rank 01

Onsomble

Onsomble's connector is the most complete in the market, and you get it from day one of the free trial. From inside ChatGPT, Claude, Codex or Gemini you can create clients, brand Sites and Topics; set questions, tracked entities, models and regions; review the configuration; start scans and watch them run; then read the original answers, the individual claims, the attributed sources, the city-by-city comparisons and the answer histories; and save evidence-linked recommendations, actions and notes. Your assistant has the same claim-level evidence the dashboard has, so it can write a client report or a board paper from the actual quotes and sources rather than from a summary metric. Nothing else in this list combines that depth with that access. The two connectors that come closest are gated: Peec's needs a paid plan and Profound's needs an Enterprise contract.

Rank 02

Peec AI

Peec's connector is broad: reports, chats, source content, perception, actions, project and prompt configuration, action statuses and content edits. Writes need organisation-owner permission and a few tools depend on early-access features. Peec's agency page says MCP is included on every paid plan.

Rank 03

Profound

Profound's connector reads its reports and raw data, adds and edits prompts, runs its Agents, and manages documents and project tasks. It does less of the research setup than Onsomble's and no more than Peec's. It is third, not higher, because it is Enterprise-only: there is no plan short of a contract that includes it, and the trial does not either.

Also worth a look: Otterly's connector can create prompts, reports and competitors on Standard and Premium, with monthly request allowances. AthenaHQ's connector runs responses and generates, revises and approves content. Semrush's public connector is explicitly limited to SEO and traffic data and does not expose the AI Visibility Toolkit's reports.

Manage research for multiple clients

An agency needs to run twenty brands the way a brand runs one: separate workspaces, capacity it can allocate between clients, reports it can put a client's logo on, and a seat count that does not punish growth.

Rank 01

Peec AI

Peec has built a proper agency product. Capacity is allocated across client and pitch projects rather than consumed, dashboards can be shared as password-protected public links or fixed PDFs, and brand plans include unlimited users. The Advanced tier adds Looker Studio.

Rank 02

Otterly.AI

Otterly includes unlimited members and reports on every plan, with a viewer role for clients. Standard and above add unlimited workspaces and Looker Studio. It is the least expensive way to give a dozen small clients a monitoring dashboard each.

Rank 03

Onsomble

Every Onsomble paid plan includes unlimited sites, clients and team members, and portfolios group clients for cross-client research. The plan you pick is about scan capacity, not seats. The report builder lets you configure a report, white-label it with the agency's branding, and share it as a link or a PDF. The gap is Looker Studio: Peec and Otterly connect to it and Onsomble does not yet, which matters if your agency's client reporting already runs through it.

Also worth a look: Profound's Agency Mode separates pitch workspaces from client workspaces. Scrunch's Agency Core package includes three brand and three pitch workspaces with unlimited users.

Create and publish content

Publishing content is one way to act on what a scan finds, and it is the one that software can automate, which is why several platforms sell it. It is not the main one. Most of what AI gets wrong about a brand traces to third-party sources it trusts, to earned coverage you do not control, or to a product, pricing or positioning problem the assistant is reporting accurately, and none of that is fixed by publishing a page. This category is only about the platforms that take you from finding to published content when content is the right answer.

Rank 01

Profound

Agents is a workflow builder for research, briefs, content creation and publication, connected to the visibility and citation data, with templates and a custom builder. It is first here because it is the only product in the list that runs the whole loop from monitoring to publication inside one platform. It is priced through Agent credits on an Enterprise contract, and extra Agent usage can pause or incur overages.

Rank 02

AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ turns prioritised gaps into governed content drafts, citation outreach and commerce actions, with ownership and review built in. CMS integrations cover WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Sanity, Contentful and others. Its connector can generate, revise and approve content from an assistant.

Rank 03

Conductor

Conductor's Explorer turns topic research into briefs and hands them to Asana, Trello or Jira, and Creator handles drafting. For a large content team that already runs on those tools, that handoff matters more than a built-in editor.

Also worth a look: Evertune's Content Studio produces drafts you can download or paste into a CMS, with 25 articles a month on Pro.

Explore what people ask AI

Prompt volume is the AI equivalent of keyword volume, and it is sold the same way: as the number that tells you which questions are worth chasing. Treat it with more suspicion than keyword volume. No AI provider publishes query counts, so every prompt volume on the market is modelled from a proxy, whether a consumer panel, clickstream data or Google search volume, and none of the vendors publish enough of the method for you to check it. The numbers are useful for ranking topics against each other and for deciding which questions to track. They are not a measurement of your brand, and they tell you nothing about what AI actually says. This category is only about the platforms that attempt the estimate.

Rank 01

Profound

Prompt Volumes is built from conversations Profound licenses from opt-in consumer panels, which it then runs through what it calls probabilistic modelling to extrapolate frequency and intent to the wider population. Profound does not publish the panel size, the weighting or any confidence interval. It is first here because it is the only one of the three that projects a volume for any prompt or keyword you type in, rather than for a topic, and it refreshes weekly. Treat the numbers as relative, not absolute, and do not expect them to agree with your monitored answer set.

Rank 02

Semrush

Prompt Research starts from a topic, industry or category phrase and returns related prompts, intent, the brands mentioned and the domains cited, with full answers behind each, drawn from a database of 317 million prompts that Semrush sources from AI search clickstream data and Google's keyword data for AI Overviews. Volume is estimated at topic level only, by combining third-party data on AI interactions with Semrush's own models, so you get a number for a topic and a list of prompts under it, not a count per prompt. It is included in the US$99 toolkit.

Rank 03

Evertune

Prompt Volumes reports estimated weekly prompts by topic, drawn from a consumer panel that Evertune says holds more than 150 million real conversations, weighted to reflect the composition of the internet. Evertune measures demand by topic rather than by exact prompt, on the argument that most AI prompts are phrased uniquely, and it pairs the volumes with Prompt Research, which lists the branded and non-branded questions buyers ask in a category. Like Profound, it does not publish the panel size or the weighting. Prompt research sits on the Pro plan, at $800 a month billed annually.

Also worth a look: Ahrefs Brand Radar is an index of AI answers, not a demand tool. Its prompts are modelled from Google's People Also Ask questions and Ahrefs' keyword index rather than from anything typed into an assistant, and its Estimated Impressions figure weights mentions by Google search volume, which Ahrefs itself describes as a modelling choice rather than a measured relationship. It is a good way to explore a market cold. It will not tell you how often anyone asks a question.

Make your website easier for AI to read

Sometimes the problem is not what AI says about you. It is that AI agents cannot read your site properly in the first place. This job covers crawler access, page structure, and what you serve to an agent when it arrives.

Rank 01

Scrunch

Scrunch is built around this. It shows you agent and crawler traffic, diagnoses site issues, connects page optimisation to the questions that matter, and on Enterprise its Agent Experience Platform serves agent-facing content alongside the human site. Nothing else here goes this deep on the technical side.

Rank 02

Conductor

Conductor's website monitoring and Creator tools sit in the same platform as its AI visibility data, so a technical fix and the answer it affects can be tracked together.

Rank 03

Semrush

The AI Visibility Toolkit includes an AI-readiness audit, and Enterprise AIO adds crawler log analysis, content audits and scoring.

Also worth a look: Otterly runs site audits from its connector.

Keep SEO and AI visibility in one place

If you want AI visibility and classic search data in one place, the search suites win, and they should.

Rank 01

Conductor

Conductor is an enterprise SEO platform first. Keywords, page monitoring, content and AI visibility share one account, one set of workspaces and one reporting layer.

Rank 02

Ahrefs

Brand Radar is bought on top of an Ahrefs plan, so the backlink index, keyword data and site audit are already in the same login. The connector works across all of them on Lite and above.

Rank 03

Semrush

The AI Visibility Toolkit is a separate US$99 purchase from the SEO toolkit, but the two sit side by side in the same account and share the same reporting. Enterprise AIO bundles both.

Also worth a look: Onsomble is the only specialist AEO platform here with SEO data built in. Through its connector you can pull Google search results and People Also Ask questions for a query, keyword volume, difficulty and intent for up to 50 keywords, a domain's backlink profile, and a technical audit of a single page, without using scan allowance. It is a useful set of lookups, not a suite.

Understand what you’ll pay

Every platform here sells a unit, and the units are all different: a tracked prompt, a response, a credit, a check, an execution. The question in this category is how many of those units, add-ons and plan gates you have to understand before you know what you will actually pay.

Rank 01

Onsomble

Onsomble has the simplest pricing in the category by some distance. There is one product and three sizes. Every paid plan includes all supported AI models, every feature, the connector and the API, and unlimited sites, clients and team members. The only thing that changes between Grow at US$99, Pro at US$399 and Ultra at US$1,399 is monthly executions: 1,000, 5,000 and 20,000. Annual billing gives two months free, and 200-execution packs that never expire cover a busy month. No seat fees, no client fees, no per-model fees and no per-location fees. Every other platform here charges for at least one of those, or does not publish a price at all.

Rank 02

Peec AI

Three brand tiers at $95, $245 and $495 a month for 50, 150 and 350 prompts, each with three models of your choice and unlimited users. Projects and countries step up by tier (one, two and five projects; one, three and three countries), and extra models are paid. Clear, if a little boxed in.

Rank 03

Otterly.AI

Lite is US$29 for 15 prompts, Standard is US$189 for 100, Premium is US$489 for 400. The ladder is clear, but the add-ons stack: Claude, Gemini and Google AI Mode are each separately priced by tier, and tracking the same question in a second country uses a second prompt slot. Price the full engine list before you commit.

Also worth a look: AthenaHQ's free Essential tier with 300 credits is the easiest way to see real data without paying. Profound and Conductor are quote-only, which is not a criticism, but it is not simple.

A closer look

The platforms in more detail

Onsomble

Onsomble has the most advanced analytics engine in this category. It was built on decades of enterprise big data experience and uses a combination of generative and predictive models to analyse every claim an AI assistant makes about a brand, a topic or a public issue, keeping the quote, the stance, the driver and the cited passage for each one, so every finding can be defended. It covers ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Copilot and Perplexity as consumer apps, and OpenAI, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity through their APIs, with the two kept separately identifiable. Brand Sites give you visibility, share of voice, sentiment, competitors and scheduled monitoring. Topics give you brand-free research that no other platform offers. Location analysis is the deepest in the market: 7,313 cities compared side by side, each with its own claims and sources, all included. The connector does the full lifecycle from setup to recommendation and is included from the free trial. Google search results, keyword metrics, backlinks and a page audit are available through the connector as well.

Pricing

US$99
per month
Grow · 1,000 executions

US$99, US$399 and US$1,399 a month for 1,000, 5,000 and 20,000 executions, everything included. Free trial is 30 days and 250 executions on ChatGPT and Google AI Summaries, no card.

Pros

  • The most advanced analytics engine in the market: every claim analysed, with the quote, stance, driver and attributed source passage preserved.
  • The deepest location analysis available: 7,313 cities, compared against each other, with claim-level drill-down into any one of them.
  • Brand-free Topic research, and the most complete MCP connector, on every tier including the trial.

Cons

  • No content generation or CMS publishing. You get recommendations and a board, not drafts.
  • No prompt-demand or volume data. You bring the questions.
  • Executions are the allowance, so wide model and region coverage burns through a plan quickly, and the trial covers two AI experiences only.

Profound

Profound is the enterprise platform in this category. Answer Engine Insights tracks visibility, share of voice, position and citations from consumer-browser answers across up to nine contracted engines. Prompt Volumes adds modelled demand estimates from licensed consumer-panel data. Sentiment groups extracted claims into themes with citation attribution. Citation reporting separates owned, competitor, earned, PR-wire, social and institutional sources. Agents builds research, briefing, content and publishing workflows. Dashboards, PDF exports, sharing links and Agency Mode cover delivery. The trial does not expose any of the Enterprise features, so you are buying most of this sight unseen unless you negotiate a working session first.

Pricing

Custom
enterprise pricing
Contracted capacity

Enterprise is custom, with contracted engines, regions, prompts and Agent credits. The free seven-day trial gives 50 daily prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews, but the prompts are recommended rather than custom.

Pros

  • The only product here that runs a loop from monitoring through to published content.
  • Prompt-level demand estimates for any prompt or keyword, with the caveat that the volumes are modelled from a panel.
  • The connector can build and run Agents, which no other connector here does.

Cons

  • No public recurring price, and the connector is Enterprise-only.
  • Every analytics category needs an enabled brand or product asset, so research is always brand-anchored.
  • The trial does not let you test your own questions, so nothing above can be checked before you buy.

Peec AI

Peec is the platform I would point a marketing team at if they wanted organised daily brand analytics without an enterprise conversation. Reports cover visibility, position, sentiment, win rate and share of voice across models, topics and countries. Brand Perception shows attributes and clustered objections with their source pages. Chats expose the answer, the mentions, the queries the assistant ran, and which sources were retrieved versus cited. Actions ranks owned, earned and technical opportunities into briefs with completion tracking and an impact overlay on later performance.

Pricing

$95
per month
Starter · 50 prompts

$95, $245 and $495 a month for Starter, Pro and Advanced, with a 15 per cent annual discount advertised. Separate agency plans allocate capacity across client and pitch projects.

Pros

  • Clear tiers, unlimited users and a strong agency model.
  • Retrieved-versus-cited source distinction and raw chats.
  • Connector on every paid plan, with configuration writes.

Cons

  • Three models per plan, with extras paid, and one country on Starter.
  • Country-level only, with no city targeting.
  • Brand-centred setup, so no brand-free topic study.

AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ connects monitoring to execution. It tracks mentions, citations, share of voice and rankings, scores brand attribute observations at the excerpt level, and feeds prioritised gaps into governed content drafts, citation outreach and commerce actions. CMS integrations are the broadest here. Its August 2026 release added city, state and province targeting across 185 markets. The connector reads answers and sources, edits prompts, creates locations, starts runs and handles content generation and approval.

Pricing

Free
Essential plan
Starter from $295 / month

Essential is free with 300 credits. Starter is $295 a month for 3,600 response credits across 11 listed engines, with a 17 per cent annual discount. Extra credits and Starter API access are priced on request. Enterprise is custom.

Pros

  • A free tier with real data.
  • Content, outreach and CMS publishing in one workflow.
  • Unlimited seats and genuine city targeting.

Cons

  • Starter is single-region and single-language; multi-country is Enterprise.
  • Personas, advanced content and BI features also sit behind Enterprise.
  • How each engine is captured is not consistently documented.

Evertune

Evertune treats AI answers as a market-research sample rather than a search result. The AI Brand Index measures unaided awareness, Word Association shows the language attached to brands, and Consumer Preferences compares brands on category attributes. Pro and Enterprise run 100 samples per prompt, which gives you a confidence you do not get from one answer. Foundational-model and consumer-app results are reported separately. Partner Connect, Content Studio and a separate Ads Agent cover activation.

Pricing

$60
per month, billed annually
Starter · 5,000 credits

Starter is $60 a month billed annually for 5,000 prompt credits. Pro is $800 a month billed annually for 100,000 credits, and adds research tools, source relevance, content and the data connector. Enterprise adds keyword sentiment, site audits, cloud and API exports and SSO.

Pros

  • Repeated sampling and aided versus unaided measurement.
  • Base-model and consumer-app views kept separate.
  • A methodology you can defend to a research director.

Cons

  • Displayed prices are annual billing only, and the useful research tools start at Pro.
  • Country and language only for organic tracking.
  • No public catalogue of what the connector can do, and setup needs a brand URL.

Scrunch

Scrunch covers brand monitoring (presence, position, sentiment, competitors, citations, segmented by topic and persona), but its reason to exist is the website. Agent traffic and site diagnostics show you what AI crawlers do on your pages. Page optimisation ties fixes to questions. The Enterprise Agent Experience Platform delivers agent-facing content alongside the human site. Collection mixes browser automation and provider APIs. New prompts refresh daily for a fortnight, then every 72 hours by default.

Pricing

$250
per month
Core · 125 prompts

Core is $250 a month for 125 prompts, 5,000 responses, four engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews and Copilot), one workspace and five users. Agency Core is $500 a month with 250 prompts, 10,000 responses, three brand and three pitch workspaces, unlimited users, Looker Studio and the connector. Enterprise is custom.

Pros

  • The deepest technical and agent-traffic tooling in the list.
  • Agency Core is a sensible package for a small agency.
  • Personas carry country, state and city context.

Cons

  • Four engines on Core, with no Claude or Gemini until Enterprise.
  • The connector is not available on brand Core, and the developer docs and pricing page disagree about that.
  • The 72-hour default refresh after the first fortnight.

Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit

Semrush's toolkit is the AI layer for teams already in Semrush. Prompt Research starts from a topic phrase and returns questions, intent, brands and cited domains with full answers. Brand Performance measures mentions, share of voice, perception and narrative drivers for one domain, in one of more than 68,000 locations. Daily custom prompt tracking follows selected questions on ChatGPT Search, AI Mode and Gemini. Enterprise AIO is a separate, larger product with content recommendations, audits and integrations.

Pricing

US$99
per month, billed annually
One domain · 25 prompts

US$99 a month per domain, billed annually, for one Brand Performance domain and 25 tracked prompts. Extra domains, locations and Toolkit user licences are $99 each; 50 extra prompts are $60 a month.

Pros

  • The longest location list in this comparison, one location per report.
  • Topic-first Prompt Research with full answers, inside the suite you use anyway.
  • Narrative drivers and perception reporting at a low entry price.

Cons

  • Every extra domain, location and user is another $99.
  • Engine coverage differs by report, and custom tracking covers three engines.
  • The public connector explicitly does not expose the AI visibility reports.

Ahrefs Brand Radar

Brand Radar is different from everything else here because the data exists before you ask. It is an index of AI answers across AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot, run against prompts that Ahrefs builds from Google's People Also Ask questions and its own keyword index, that you can search by brand, product, person, topic or region, and compare mentions and citations immediately. Custom prompts add focused tracking on a daily, weekly or monthly cadence, and the response records include the answer text, citations and the search queries behind them. Report Builder and Looker Studio cover reporting.

Pricing

US$50
per month, plus an Ahrefs plan
Custom checks · 2,500 checks

custom-check packages are US$50, US$100 and US$250 a month for 2,500, 7,000 and 25,000 checks. Index access starts at US$199 a month. Both sit on top of an Ahrefs plan, which starts at US$129 a month.

Pros

  • Explore a market before you commit to tracking anything.
  • Publisher and cited-page intelligence that outreach teams will use.
  • The connector works on Lite and above with no extra fee.

Cons

  • The index and the checks are add-ons to an Ahrefs subscription.
  • Creating custom prompts is an API operation, not something the connector does.
  • Country filtering only, and no native sentiment dashboard.

Conductor

Conductor is an enterprise search and content platform that has added AI visibility rather than a dedicated AEO tool. Coverage includes ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Google's AI experiences, Grok, Copilot and Perplexity, collected API-first where possible. Sentiment is segmented into price, quality, ethics and experience. Full responses and fan-out queries export. Ask Conductor investigates lost prompts and competitor gains. Workspaces delivers stakeholder reporting, and briefs hand off to Asana, Trello or Jira.

Pricing

Custom
sales-led pricing
Allowance set by contract

Essentials, Growth and Enterprise are sales-led. Growth lists 2,500 AI-search credits a year alongside pages, keywords and competitors. A three-week trial is advertised.

Pros

  • Search, content, website monitoring and AI visibility in one enterprise platform.
  • City and state configuration for most engines.
  • Workflow handoffs into the tools content teams already use.

Cons

  • No public pricing, and the credit definition lives in the contract.
  • The connector is a separate subscription and currently surfaces data rather than configuring or running research.
  • City analysis is not available for Claude, Google AI Mode or Copilot.

Otterly.AI

Otterly is where I would send a small business that wants to know whether AI mentions them, this month, for not much money. Brand reports track coverage, position, sentiment, share of voice and competitors daily. You can write or import any prompt, and attaching it to a report is optional. Exports include raw answers as CSV or JSON and citations with URL, date, engine and source category. Recommendations come with reasoning and a to-do list.

Pricing

US$29
per month
Lite · 15 prompts

Lite is US$29 a month for 15 prompts, Standard is US$189 for 100, Premium is US$489 for 400. The base engines are ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot. Claude, Gemini and AI Mode are paid add-ons priced by tier.

Pros

  • The lowest entry price here, with unlimited members and reports.
  • Useful exports and a connector that can create prompts and reports on Standard and above.
  • Country selection on every prompt.

Cons

  • Engine add-ons and extra countries push the real price well above the headline.
  • No connector on Lite, and request allowances on the higher plans.
  • Sentiment and attributes, but no narrative or claim-level analysis.
Beyond the ten

Platforms I considered and left out

Goodie was the hardest cut. It spans prompt research, monitoring, optimisation, content and attribution, with Core at $399 a month, and if this list were about commercial optimisation rather than research it would be in. Rankscale is a credible lower-cost alternative with a well-documented connector. Writesonic is strong on content production but less distinctive for research. Brandlight is an enterprise visibility option that overlaps with the role Conductor plays here.

How to choose

If you need to track mentions, start with monitoring. If you need to explain what AI says, choose a platform that connects each claim to its source, model and location.

Deliver research for clients

Choose Onsomble when clients need the claims, sources and city-level evidence behind a finding. Unlimited clients and team members, portfolios and white-labelled reports support the work across accounts.

For monitoring dashboards and Looker Studio reporting, consider Peec AI or Otterly.

Work inside your AI assistant

Onsomble lets you set up research, run scans, read claims and sources, compare cities and track recommendations from your assistant. MCP access starts with the free trial.

Peec AI is the next option on a paid plan. Profound requires an Enterprise contract.

Research public topics and issues

Choose Onsomble to research an issue without attaching a brand or website. Read the claims, stance and cited passages for every stakeholder in the study.

Consider Profound for research anchored to a brand, or Evertune when repeated sampling matters.

Compare countries and cities

Choose Onsomble to compare locations side by side, then trace each difference to the answers, claims and sources behind it. This suits multi-site brands, franchises, tourism teams and agencies working across markets.

Semrush offers a longer location list, with each location sold as a separate report.

Create and publish content

Profound connects monitoring to research, briefs, drafts and publication through Agents. AthenaHQ combines governed content review with direct publishing to major CMS platforms.

Conductor suits teams using Asana, Trello or Jira. Evertune produces drafts to export. Keep monitoring after publishing to see what changes.

Add AI visibility to your SEO workflow

If your team already works in Semrush, Ahrefs or Conductor, start there. Keep AI visibility alongside the keyword data, backlinks, site monitoring and reporting you already use.

Semrush adds a visibility toolkit; Ahrefs adds a searchable answer index; Conductor combines search, content and AI visibility for enterprise teams.

Make your website easier for AI to read

Choose Scrunch when crawlers cannot read your pages or find useful information. It shows agent traffic, diagnoses site issues and connects page improvements to the questions that matter.

Its Enterprise platform can serve agent-facing content. Conductor covers part of the website-monitoring work within its suite.

Find the questions people ask AI

Profound estimates demand for individual prompts or keywords. Semrush and Evertune estimate demand at topic level, helping you decide which questions to research or write about.

Use these modelled estimates to compare topics, rather than as measured query counts.

Explore a market before you track it

Choose Ahrefs Brand Radar to search an existing index of AI answers by brand, product, person, topic or region. See which brands and sources appear before setting up your own tracking.

Use the index to explore the market, then track your own questions in the platform that fits the work.

Start with affordable monitoring

Otterly starts at US$29 a month for 15 prompts with daily tracking and exports. AthenaHQ offers a free tier with 300 credits. Both give small teams a way to see whether AI mentions them.

Move to deeper analysis when you need to explain why those mentions or descriptions change.

Questions people ask

An AEO platform measures how AI answer engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews mention, describe, recommend and cite a brand or subject, and helps you investigate the answers and sources behind those results. AEO stands for answer engine optimisation. You will also see GEO, generative engine optimisation, used for the same thing.

Depends on the job. Onsomble has the most advanced analytics engine and the deepest location analysis in the market, and leads for PR and topic research, claim-level evidence, geography, assistant workflows and pricing simplicity. Profound leads for content Agents and demand estimates. Peec leads for agencies. Scrunch leads for technical website work. The search suites lead for included SEO tooling. The rankings above go through each.

Only Onsomble lets you set up a study with no brand attached. Semrush's Prompt Research and Ahrefs Brand Radar let you explore a topic without a brand, which is useful for discovery. The rest anchor the study to a website or brand asset.

Onsomble has the deepest location analysis in the market: 7,313 cities, compared side by side, with claim-level drill-down into any one of them, included on every paid plan. Semrush, AthenaHQ, Conductor and Profound support city-level analysis in some form, with differences in how many cities, which engines, which plan, whether locations can be compared and whether each one costs extra. The geography section above covers each.

Most of them now, through MCP. Onsomble and Peec include it on every paid plan, and Onsomble includes it on the free trial. Profound's is Enterprise-only. Otterly's starts on Standard. Semrush's public connector does not expose its AI visibility reports.

Published entry prices run from US$29 a month at Otterly to custom enterprise contracts at Profound and Conductor. Onsomble starts at US$99 with everything included. The important question is not the headline price but what the allowance buys and what costs extra, which is why the pricing section above exists.

Try Onsomble

If you need to know exactly what AI says about you, where it says it and why, the free trial is 30 days with 250 executions on ChatGPT and Google AI Summaries, the full analytics engine and the connector included, no card needed. Start a free trial or read about the MCP connector.
